I started programming “professionally” at age 14 when I took it upon myself to go out and get contract work. My first programming gig was for Roto Rooter who needed a dispatch and tracking application. I wrote it in QuickBasic and made $400. From then on, I’ve been a developer through and through. Of course, since age 14, I’ve been able to discover new definitions for the word “professional”. :)

I want to change the world. Maybe I think too highly of my profession, but I believe developers have a unique ability to change the world with less effort than any other profession. Apps like Twitter, Facebook, Windows, and iTunes have changed our culture, our communication, our very lives. It’s stuff like that that makes me proud to be a developer!
